I began my studies with Ira Seidenstein in March of 2015 while living in Paris, France. Originally, I was looking for a place to apply recently learned Mime. I soon came to realize that by applying Ira’s exercises, I had finally found a way to create an environment to really experiment and play. I have found that the Core Mechanics are useful in my pre-show warm-ups in order to enhance stage presence and awareness. Now, there is a noticed ease of concentration onstage and the ability to inhabit a sense of immediacy. That allows real interaction with the audience while keeping the choreography. When in the studio, I use these exercises: The Six Directions: opposition (Nothing Exercise); and, The Cleopatra Exercise – when creating material.
